January 2022 - Merseyside Sport Partnership

Merseyside Sport Partnership (MSP) is the only strategic organisation dedicated to unlocking the power of sport and physical activity across the whole of the Liverpool City Region.

MSP is well connected to a wider national network of 43 Active Partnerships which are local system partners of Sport England. By providing leadership and expertise, plus access to a well developed network of partners and funders, they create the conditions that enable people to be active every day.

They are currently consulting with partners to develop our future strategy which will lead us from April 2022. This is shaping up to have a key focus on tackling inequalities that exist in our communities which prevent people from accessing physical activity.

MSP are always looking to collaborate with innovative, proactive and community led organisations.

MSP and Life Rooms share similar values, and see the benefits of bringing our expertise and resources together to benefit people of Merseyside. We both understand the impact that physical activity and movement can have on our physical and mental health.

"This is an exciting time for MSP and Life Rooms to start working more closely together and we look forward to seeing the impact that we will have by connecting our systems. We are proud to work in partnership with Life Rooms to improve people’s lives".

MSP are working with Life Rooms to better connect them to physical activity and opportunities for movement in order to improve mental health of people in Merseyside with three main outcomes:

  • Embedding physical activity within a whole systems approach
  • Creating conditions for everyone to be able to access and benefit from physical activity
  • Supporting staff to increase physical activity conversations and provision

How can organisations link in with MSP?

MSP are a strategic partner in the following two health networks where partners and individuals interested in making a difference can join the movement:

  • Mind North West, Mental Health, Sport and Physical Activity Network: Mind Regional Network is a partnership between Mind and Merseyside Sports Foundation which connects and advocates the power of physical activity and movement to improved mental health. This network is well established for hundreds of partners and multiple sectors to share information and highlight good examples to share learning and maximise impact.
  • Cheshire & Merseyside ICS – Population Health Board Physical Activity Subgroup
